LOVE IN THE GLOW OF THE OIL LAMP
Description
When I lived with this couple, Celia and Bernie, in North Carolina in the room next to their bed I asked if I couldn't take a picture of them in bed. I could hear everything anyway through the thin walls. They were a bit shy and reluctant. However, after hitchhiking all over the country and writing them a letter about the beauty of such a picture, they said yes and I hitchhiked back from California to the tobacco fields of North Carolina and stayed with them again. And this time – having hitchhiked more than 10.000 km to see them again - I had proven myself and was accepted like an old dear friend, so they loosened up. 451 S.
