PRISON LOVE IN GEORGIA
Description
I was staying with the Barnett family in their famous old antebellum plantation home “The Tupper Barnett house” in 1975 enjoying their talk about how they missed caring for their former slaves while I myself enjoyed being served by their present black servants. When I came back to see Mrs. Barnett in 1978 to show her my pictures of her and the blacks in my book, she took me to visit the inmates in the local prison. Now she had found them as a replacement for her need to administer her paternalistic love. This guy had his wife on a visit that day. City jail in Washington, GA – August 1978
