A leftist millionaire, the famous “Wild” Bill Gandall, made me his driver and for a few days I wined and dined with the wealthiest people in the world. This was one of the dinners he took me to in Palm Beach. I acted as Bill’s personal photographer, so nobody asked any questions. One day we couldn’t find our way, so he stopped me and ran into a full church, stopped the service to ask the congregation for directions and presented longhaired me as a “bishop’s son from Denmark”. While he sent people out in their cars to find maps, he started conducting the choir – and in no time took over the rest of the church service while the whole church was in laughter. The hyper 65-year-old Bill was like that virtually 24 hours a day, so I had to quit my job as his driver after a couple of days to get some sleep. But what pictures and good lobster meals I got before I returned to my ghetto in West Palm Beach to rest.
