When I stayed with the self-made banker Jack Ray, he proudly showed off his wealth including his wife’s mink fur. The only thing he couldn’t buy was real happiness. Again and again, I saw that the upper class is compelled to substitute mink coats, alcohol, nerve pills, and cocaine for personal happiness.
